Thank you - You gave us time!
We want to say a huge thank you to every single person who signed the petition, wrote a letter, or spoke up for us over the past few weeks. So many of you took time out of your own lives to help, and it has made a real difference. Following the recent planning committee meeting, and thanks to the volume of support shown, we have now been given more time. The deadline has been extended to the end of March. For us, that breathing space is everything. It has taken a huge amount

Help us get back on our feet
Many people who have followed our charity over the years have asked what has been happening recently and how they can help. This pag e explains the situation and why we have launched a fundraising appeal. For more than 30 years, the Animal Hostel Trust has been rescuing horses that nobody else would take. Much of this work has been carried out by a very small group of unpaid volunteers who have devoted years of their lives to helping animals in need. At the centre of much of

Indy update
Some of you will remember Indy, one of the lovely horses currently in our care. Indy has recently been diagnosed with PPID (Cushing’s disease). The good news is that he has started his medication and is taking his tablets well. With treatment, horses with PPID can continue to live happy, active lives, and Indy is already showing how well he’s coping. He remains bright, healthy and looking for someone to love, and there is still plenty of life and enjoyment ahead of him. Indy

Planning Meeting Update
We attended the North York Moors National Park Authority Planning Committee meeting this morning to ask questions and raise the concerns so many of you have shared with us. When we asked our prepared questions during the meeting, we were told there would be no verbal response, and tha

How the National Park Tried to Shut Us Down – And Why We’re Still Fighting
The Animal Hostel Trust has spent over 30 years rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. But in 2025, we found ourselves in a situation no small charity and two of their volunteer trustees should face: forced into defending a High Court injunction issued by the North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMNPA), and ordered to remove our rescue horses from the fields we have worked so hard to maintain. This blog is to tell our side of the story. A Long History o

A Huge Thank You
We’re incredibly relieved and grateful to say that all of our horses were safely moved before the deadline. This simply wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing people who stepped forward to help, offering livery, transport, contacts, advice, and sheer kindness when we needed it most. It’s been overwhelming (in the best way!) to see how many people came together for the sake of the horses. Moments like this remind us how strong and supportive our community truly is. Ou
